Erick Pulgar is hardly a household name in English football, but it would seem that many West Ham fans have done their checks on the Bologna midfielder and believe that he would be a terrific signing for them this summer. According to Chilean broadcaster Canal de Futbol, West Ham are interested in signing the 25-year-old as a potential replacement for Declan Rice, who is wanted by Manchester United. Even if Rice stays, the Irons should definitely press on with trying to sign Pulgar. He did well for Chile at Copa America and as reported by Calcio Mercato, has a small release clause of just £10.8million. Pulgar is an upgrade on Carlos Sanchez and Pedro Obiang, so why not sign him? West Ham have also been linked with Tottenham enforcer Victor Wanyama this summer and while it is hard to agree with claims that Pulgar is a lot better than the Kenya international, he is certainly a lot less injury-prone. Wanyama is proven in English football, whereas Pulgar isn’t. Manuel Pellegrini and Mario Husillos will likely leave these fans unhappy if they go for the Spurs ace rather than Bologna’s Chilean international.
