Pellegrini wants one signing

|

Manuel Pellegrini wants West Ham United to make one more signing before the transfer deadline, according to Football.London.

The online football news source claim that the Chilean has already completed the bulk of his business, with the signings of Pablo Fornals and Sebastien Haller plugging many holes.

Football.London reports that Pellegrini wishes to sign a utility man who can fit one or two positions next season, in a bid to finalise the Hammers’ transfers.

Pellegrini revealed after West Ham’s pre-season victory against Fulham on Saturday that the club were “nearly there” and isn’t known to give too much away when revealed business matters related to the club.

OPINION

It comes as no surprise that Pellegrini wants the Hammers to strengthen his squad with one more addition. Despite the club having signed their targets quickly and efficiently already, they have seen many of their squad from last season either be released or sold, with the Chilean overseeing a massive turnaround this summer. Certain areas have surely been solidified, with Ben Johnson’s emergence in pre-season gives the Hammers’ defence reinforcements, and the return to fitness for Winston Reid and Arthur Masuaku’s new contract meaning their backline is more than ready. Their midfield is certainly one area that could cause a problem, and a utility man in that area could be vital. Jack Wilshere and Carlos Sanchez could be options but their injury problems could be a worry, especially given the fact they missed a combined total of 408 days last season through injury [Source: Transfermarkt]. Midfield is definitely the area they need to strengthen, with Pellegrini surely set to deploy a utility man who can anchor his midfield if needed.
