With all the speculation surrounding West Ham and their hunt for new strikers, you could be forgiven for not paying attention to who is already at the club.

Manuel Pellegrini has been reported by ExWHUemployee to want two new forwards at the Hammers this summer, with Andy Carroll, Lucas Perez, and Marko Arnautovic all being shown the exit door.

Despite only having two recognised out-and-out strikers at the club, Pellegrini is still happy to let one go, with Football Insider reporting that West Ham are prepared to take a £5million loss to sell Jordan Hugill this summer, with old club Preston looking like his destination.

Fans at West Ham will surely be delighted to see the back of Hugill should he leave, after the 27-year-old well and truly staked his claim to be one of the London club’s biggest transfer flops.

Hugill managed to make three Premier League appearances adding up to a total of 22 minutes after signing in 2018 for £8million, and then went on to spend last season on loan at Championship side Middlesbrough.

The former Preston man would join his former side at Deepdale without scoring a single goal in East London, and wouldn’t be remembered with great fondness.

Hugill made 37 appearances under Tony Pulis last season, and only managed a poor total of six goals. He attempted 0.1 dribbles on average per-game and miscontrolled the ball 2.4 times per game [WhoScored], two stats which only prove his incapability to perform at the highest level.

It says a lot about a player when you will be remembered more so because of your overly enthusiastic welcome video rather than what you did on the pitch, and it’s fair to say Hugill didn’t too much.

Pellegrini will be delighted to finally see the back of Hugill, and his apparent acceptance that they will lose money on the forward only proves his desire to get him off of the books at the London Stadium.
