West Ham went into their clash with Newcastle on the back of a positive performance against Premier League champions Manchester City, despite the result. Those positives quickly went out of the window after an abysmal start to the game, which saw the Hammers eventually lose 1-0. Angelo Ogbonna was one of only three players to keep his place in the side, and the Italian did everything possible to prove that it was the wrong decision from Manuel Pellegrini. Ogbonna struggled in defence and consistently lost track of Newcastle forward Yoshinori Muto, who scored the Magpies first goal of the competition. The 31-year-old made 20 Premier League starts last season, but tried his best to look like a fan who had been plucked out of the stands to play in his position. On the basis of this performance, the Italian will be nowhere near the starting line-up next season, with many Hammers fans taking to Twitter to plead with their club to sell him this summer.
