OPINION
West Ham United posted a tweet on their official Twitter account on Wednesday commemorating two years to the day since they signed striker Javier Hernandez from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen. Since then it hasn’t quite gone according to plan, even though he’s been decent for the Hammers. It’s interesting, though, that this tweet has come on the day when the Daily Star reported that the Mexican international has told his representatives to secure him a move away from the London Stadium after the arrival of club record signing Sebastien Haller from German club Eintracht Frankfurt last week. The reaction from the West Ham faithful was, predictably, largely negative. A fair few of the team’s supporters have urged the club to sell him as soon as possible, labelling him disappointing and seemingly being unimpressed by his goal record in east London. You wonder how many of these fans had read the Star’s report prior to commenting on this post; that would explain the negativity.
