It’s safe to say that the reaction from the West Ham United supporters to the confirmed signing of¬†striker Sebastien Haller from¬†Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday has been effusive, to say the least.

However, the idea of pairing the newly-arrived Frenchman with another top class frontman is likely enough to have the Hammers faithful licking their lips in anticipation.

Well, that could become a reality this summer. The Daily Record reported on Wednesday that the east London outfit are, along with Premier League rivals Crystal Palace, interested in making a move for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos this summer.

Now, the Colombian international isn’t as proven at a high level as Haller, but he has scored goals wherever he has been and is one of the most prolific goalscorers in Britain over the past couple of years.

Indeed, he netted 30 times in 48 games for Steven Gerrard’s side last season [Source: Transfermarkt]. When you look at Javier Hernandez, who would be his prospective challenger for game time alongside Haller were he to join the Hammers, Morelos’s tally far exceeds the Mexican’s eight goals in 20 matches [Source: Transfermarkt].

It’s clear, then, that the Gers star would provide Manuel Pellegrini with a second top class attacker to pair with Haller in a new, young and dynamic frontline.

Hernandez is 31 years of age and not getting any younger, whereas Morelos is a fresh-faced 23-year-old who is only going to get better as time goes on.

Obviously discipline issues are a concern with the Colombian, that is indisputable, however the step up from the Scottish Premiership to the Premier League could be just what he needs to focus his mind.

In short, this is a deal that would see West Ham’s already-formidable frontline go to the next level, combining two goalscoring extraordinaries.
