Cascarino: Looks like Rondon is going to West Ham

West Ham have made a very promising start to the summer.

With a couple of veteran goalkeepers brought in for security and Pablo Fornals arriving to add some much needed class and creativity to the centre of the park, the Hammers already look as if they have a better squad than they did last season.

Or at least they will, if they can snap up a striker. Andy Carroll and Lucas Perez have already left the club, and it would seem that if Marko Arnautovic gets his way he could be following them shortly after, as reported by Sky Sports News.

And so, as is so often the case around this time of year, the Hammers are on the look out for a new striker.

One name that has been repeatedly linked is that of Salomon Rondon, as reported by Football Insider.

And talkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino seems relatively confident that he could be on his way to east London.

Speaking on the station, while discussing the current situation in Newcastle, he said: “He [Rondon] looks like he’s going to go to West Ham or another club.

“Very good striker.”

Obviously, nothing is cut and dry yet, and Cascarino admits as much himself, but the fact that he feels confident enough to mention him in this way would suggest that there is at least something to the rumour.

As for Rondon as a player, his 4.6 aerial duels won and his 2.1 shots from open play per game in the Premier League last season [Whoscored] show that he is a real handful, and that he has the potential to fit effortlessly into a side who are crying out for a focal point to their attack.
