Monday will go down as one of the better days in the transfer window for West Ham. Marko Arnautovic finally left the Hammers to move to China after falling out of favour with his teammates. The mood was summed up in West Ham’s official statement where they only released two sentences to announce his departure. Just like Dimitri Payet, the London club acted quickly to get rid of the troublesome Austrian. This was definitely the best result for the club, who needed to take action before some of their players take advantage of the situation unfolding before their eyes. Arnautovic led the line poorly last season and continually swapped between the Austrian and Michael Antonio. Arnautovic only won an average of 0.8 aerial battles per game last season, a stat that just isn’t good enough. [WhoScored] Just hours after the sale of their former striker, West Ham posted an appreciation post on midfielder Mark Noble on their official Twitter account, calling their captain a “True Hammer”. Many saw this as a dig at Arnautovic, with Hammers’ fans praising their club for moving on so quickly.
