West Ham United striker Javier Hernandez wasn’t pictured returning to training on Monday because he was having a bad hair day, according to Claret & Hugh.

The reliable Hammers news source claims that the 31-year-old was present with much of the first team squad back at Rush Green, despite him being absent from the social media photographs.

The Mexican international shocked supporters by unveiling a bold new orange hair colour towards the end of last season, and it appears he was having problems with it on Monday.

His absence attracted the interest of the supporters due to his uncertain future at the London Stadium. Football London reported last month that the east London outfit are looking to offload him this summer.

This is hilarious, isn’t it? You wonder what the process was, here. Did the social media department themselves decide that Hernandez wasn’t looking good, so they cut him from the photographs and videos circulated on social media? Or did the player himself go to the club and say ‘Listen, I’m struggling with my hair today, can you leave me out of all the social media stuff please?’ You’d think that the latter is the much more likely option, here. Hernandez’s change in hair colour was a real point of interest at West Ham towards the end of the campaign, with the switch to orange being a bold choice, to say the least. The Mexican stuck with his natural black hair colour for much of his career, but in recent years has dabbled with blonde and now orange hair. Clearly, though, he wasn’t very happy with how his hair was looking on Monday. It’s a strange reason not to be included in social media photos upon returning to training, but there you go.
