Club source confirms Haller interest, team annoyed with leak

|

West Ham United are in talks for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Sebastien Haller, but are ‘annoyed’ about the deal leaking, according to Claret & Hugh.

The reliable Hammers news source claims that they’ve been informed by a club source that talks are underway for the 6ft 2in Frenchman [Source: Transfermarkt].

The source told Claret & Hugh: “We are annoyed it has reached the media via an Italian journalist. It doesn’t help. The situation is that unsurprisingly, as a fine striker, he is obviously among several we are chasing but talk of major bids is a little premature.”

OPINION

It’s no surprise that the Hammers are interested in Haller. He is a terrific striker who is coming off a phenomenal season with Frankfurt, one which would have garnered much more attention if it wasn’t for the emergence of now-Real Madrid frontman Luka Jovic at the German club last term. But for West Ham to be annoyed that news of their interest has leaked is silly, really. Transfer stories leaking is par for the course in modern day football, we all know that, so how upset can the Hammers legitimately be that this has gotten out? It doesn’t stop them from continuing their negotiations with Haller, just as it didn’t prevent them from wrapping up a deal for playmaker Pablo Fornals earlier this summer. At the end of the day, if West Ham go and seal a deal for the Frenchman then none of this will matter. However, they need to get the transfer done first, and that’s the key to all of this at the moment.
