West Ham United winger Grady Diangana has been the one player standing out during the club’s pre season training camp, according to Football London journalist Sam Inkersole.
The Hammers correspondent revealed the news on Wednesday, claiming that the 21-year-old has been making waves over in Switzerland.
The youngster has now officially been included in the 23-man squad who have made the trip to the Far East for the Premier League Asia Trophy.
Diangana will be looking to take his outstanding training camp form into the pre season fixtures proper.
Clearly this is going to be a big season for young Diangana. He broke into the first team around September time last season, and stayed a part of the first team set-up until the end of the campaign. However, he never truly nailed down a spot in Manuel Pellegrini’s starting line up, and was regularly used as an impact player off the substitutes bench. He’s going to be in a better spot heading into the new campaign, though, having experienced life as a first team player for almost an entire season. The youngster can take what he learned last time out and apply it in the new campaign, hopefully producing a more consistent season of football as a result. He’s a talented young man with lots of potential, but there will be plenty of competition for first team spots in the attacking midfield positions at the London Stadium next time out. Felipe Anderson, Manuel Lanzini, Pablo Fornals, Michail Antonio, Andriy Yarmolenko, Robert Snodgrass; it’s a large bunch of players for Diangana to navigate his way past.
