Former West Ham goalkeeper Adrian has sent a message to Hammers midfielder Pedro Obiang.

The veteran stopper is without a club after leaving the Irons at the beginning of the month, but still saw fit to get in touch with the 27-year-old midfielder.

After Obiang posted several snaps of him sightseeing from the Hammers’ preseason trip to China on his personal Instagram account, Adrian responded with the comment: “Ole mi instagramer. Filosofeando por China!”, which means: “Ole my Instagramer. Philosophy by China!”

OPINION

Adrian was a real cult figure at West Ham, and the east London faithful will no doubt be happy to hear that he is still in touch with his former teammates. You kind of get the impression that his comment might have been better delivered in his native tongue, but it’s the thought that counts and it’s pleasing nonetheless. As far as Obiang is concerned, you get the impression that this summer could be a pretty important one in terms of him showing that he still has a role to play for the Hammers. The midfielder made just the 12 Premier League starts last season, and his stats in that time weren’t overly eye-catching. 0.6 clearances and 0.5 interceptions probably aren’t enough for a player whose primary aim is to break down play and get things moving in the other direction, but at least his pass success rate of 80% shows that there is hope for him yet [Whoscored].
