Frank McAvennie shared a picture with Tony Cottee on his personal Twitter account, with the pair both in Helsinki with the Finnish Hammers, and West Ham fans went wild over the two former Irons reuniting. McAvennie and Cottee formed a formidable partnership up front for the Hammers in 1986, with McAvennie even previously revealing in an interview with the Hammers’ official website that he felt so confident about himself and Cottee; that he always thought that one of them, if not both of them, would score going into every game. McAvennie ended up scoring 60 goals in 190 games across two spells for the Hammers, with 28 of those coming in the 1985/86 season (as per the Hammers’ official site), while Cottee netted 146 goals for the club after appearing nearly 300 times across his two spells. So with that in mind, it’s no surprise that some Hammers fans were thrilled to see the goalscoring duo reunite, even if wasn’t on a football pitch. Both weaved their way into supporters’ hearts by featuring loads, and more importantly scoring goals, so it’s no surprise they’re viewed as legends. One Hammers fan below tried to imagine the duo featuring in today’s first-team, and seem intrigued by how many goals they could get with playmakers Pablo Fornals and Manuel Lanzini feeding them opportunities.
