West Ham United revealed on their official website on Monday that attacker Lucas Perez has joined Spanish side Alaves after just a single year in east London. The news, it seems, has gone down pretty well with the club’s supporters. Perez never really seemed to gel at the London Stadium and it appeared that he didn’t have the trust of manager Manuel Pellegrini. His goalscoring record for the Hammers actually was pretty good, but there was talk of fallings out with Pellegrini and long stretches left out of the starting line up. Still, this seems pretty harsh considering his performances when he did play and is perhaps a decision made to get him off the wage bill more than anything else. For him, though, it will be good to move back to Spain. He’s enjoyed success there before, which is what earned him his big move to Arsenal several years ago, and so he’ll be happy now.
