There’s nothing more frustrating for football fans than seeing a player with the ability and talent to be one of the brightest sparks in the game fail to reach their potential because of issues off the pitch. Whether it be attitude problems or an inability to show the kind of commitment needed to be a top level talent, there are many factors that can prevent a player from making good on the promise of his early career, and it’s always a little bit sad to see a heavily hyped talent lose his way. Ravel Morrison is a prime example. Once hailed by Sir Alex Ferguson as “the best he had ever seen”, as quoted by talkSPORT, the midfielder has spent the last few years bobbing about in increasingly obscure places. After joining Lazio in 2017, the 26-year-old has had spells at QPR and Mexican side Atlas, and most recently was plying his trade for Swedish outfit Ostersunds. His stint in Scandinavia has now come to an end, however, with the Daily Mail claiming that Morrison walked out on the club. But Morrison has fired back at the story on Twitter, instead claiming that his contract had come to it’s end naturally, and that the article was based on misinformation. In response, many West Ham fans have urged him to return to the club where he spent three years between 2012 and 2015.
