OPINION
West Ham have started the transfer window at quite a pace. Whereas most teams are still trying to figure out their targets and identifying which positions should be regarded as high priority this summer, the Hammers have already snapped up three players. Admittedly, two of those are veteran backup goalkeepers, but the third, Pablo Fornals, looks like he could be a real game changer for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, with a dizzying a Youtube highlights reel and a shedload of Iberian class. And it doesn’t look as if the Irons have any plans to slow down anytime soon either. According to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, the Hammers have had a £29 million offer accepted by Celta Vigo for Uruguayan forward Maxi Gomez, and it’s fair to say that supporters are more than a little bit excited. The 22-year-old is a real talent, and is exactly the kind of classic centre-forward that the club have been crying out for for ages. The downside of the report is that Valencia have also supposedly had a bid accepted, but if the Hammers can keep their nerve and beat the Spaniards to the punch, this could be a wonderful capture for them going into the new season.
West Ham and Valencia have had £29m bids accepted by Celta Vigo for striker Maxi Gomez. Up to Gomez to decide where he wants to go. West Ham have also made £13m bid for Eibar defensive midfielder Joan Jordan.
