Kevin Nolan enjoyed a great career in the Premier League, in a seven-year spell, he played for three different clubs: Bolton, Newcastle and West Ham. Nolan played at most levels for the England youth sides, but never managed to earn a full senior cap for his country. His main attribute was being able to play off of the main striker, a role that he perfected during his playing career. The physicality and poachers instinct in and around the box made Nolan one of the hardest players to keep out in England. The attacking midfield player joined the Hammers in 2011 from Newcastle, for a fee of only £3million. Nolan went on to make 157 appearances for the club, scoring 31 and assisting a further 18 goals for the London based club. The English midfielder was great for the Hammers, joining when the club had fallen into the Championship and was one of the main reasons the club earned promotion straight back to the top flight. In a recent interview on West Ham’s official club website, Nolan addressed his time at the club with a great fondness by saying: “It doesn’t feel like eight years at all; it’s crazy, to be honest, eight years have flown by. I wish I could go back, I must admit because I do miss playing. But it’s great to see West Ham doing so well now.” Many Hammers’ fans addressed the interview on Twitter, by responding with great joy at the admission, thanking Nolan for what he did at the club. One fan simply addressed Nolan by saying: “One of, if not the best captain of my lifetime. Loved him at West Ham!”
