The rollercoaster ride has only just begun at West Ham United, with much more transfer business surely on the horizon.

Mario Husillos has been working in overdrive trying to secure a defensive midfielder alongside a couple of strikers, all after the arrival of playmaker Pablo Fornals.

Manuel Pellegrini was reported by Football FanCast to have requested that the Hammers complete a deal for both West Brom’s Salomon Rondon and Celta Vigo’s Maxi Gomez, who are both reportedly available for a combined fee of £62.1million.

The Chilean was suggested to want defensive cover for Declan Rice this summer, with Claret and Hugh reporting in May that Husillos is still interested in holding midfielder Gary Medel – a move that would suit the Hammers perfectly.

West Ham have received a great boost over their hunt, with Milliyet, who name West Ham as suitors for the midfield enforcer, quoting Medel as saying his family want to move to England this summer.

This would surely put the London club into pole position for the signature of the former Cardiff midfield man, with little to no other interest reported from English sides.

The 31-year-old would be a great experienced option for Pellegrini and would offer solid protection to the Hammers’ defence as they continue to strengthen their forward attacking options.

Medel has 119 international caps to his name and has been in fine defensive form this season for Besiktas. The Chilean made the most clearances on average per game from any midfielder in the Besiktas squad with 2.5 per game. Medel also averages 0.4 blocks in each outing – the second best in the squad. Pellegrini could be onto a winner with his hunt for Medel, a player who already has Premier League experience and might be convinced by his family to head back after his admission.
