Journo outlines West Ham stance on Diop

|

Issa Diop will only leave West Ham should he force his way out of the club, according to journalist Sam Inkersole.

It was revealed by Sky Sports on Saturday that Manchester United were readying a £45million bid plus a player for the 22-year-old who has impressed in his first season at the London Stadium.

The reliable journalist also claimed that the French youth international will not be allowed to leave the club, with the youngster being a key player in Manuel Pellegrini’s set up.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Inkersole revealed that no matter what bid comes in for the defender the club will not entertain it.

Diop was a mainstay for the Hammers this season, making 38 appearances and playing his part in eight clean-sheets.

OPINION

West Ham have made their stance clear when it comes to Issa Diop. They will do anything to keep their marquee defender, who only arrived at the club last season for £22million from Toulouse. Diop has quickly become the standout defensive performer, with his great physical presence a great weapon for the Hammers. Sky Sports revealed that Pellegrini will laugh off any offers that don’t pass £60million, and even if they do go over that, the club may be tempted to just say no altogether. The French youth international will most likely be staying at the London Stadium next season, with Manchester United exploring a potential deal for him should they not complete a deal for Leicester’s Harry Maguire. Should the Hammers be able to keep their prized assets, they will be ready to mount a serious challenge for European football next season after completing the signing of Pablo Fornals and also having placed bids for Maxi Gomez and Joan Jordan.
