West Ham United have not yet made a contract offer to Stuttgart defender Ozan Kabak, according to journalist Ed Aarons.

The Guardian’s sport deputy news editor revealed the news on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday, stating that no official offer has been made by the Hammers.

He does admit that the club have held an interest in the 19-year-old hot prospect, though. Aarons also revealed that Juventus, AC Milan, Roma and a bevy of German clubs are eyeing the former Galatasaray man.

OPINION

This is an interesting one, because West Ham seemingly already have a primary transfer target at centre back this summer. Football London reported in April that Alaves centre half Guillermo Maripan is a key target for the club during the summer transfer window. So the Chilean would appear to be the man for the Hammers. However, this Kabak interest has also come about in recent times, and he is certainly a terrific young talent. He has Champions League experience at a young age, has played in two different countries at a high level and is only going to get better in the years to come. So he would certainly be a solid addition for Manuel Pellegrini’s side. However, it doesn’t seem as if the club are quite sold on him yet, and haven’t made a contract offer as a result. Perhaps they are wary of getting into a bidding war with Serie A and Bundesliga sides when they already have Fabian Balbuena and Issa Diop in situ at the heart of the defence.
