West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice made another appearance for England as he started his team’s 3-1 defeat to the Netherlands in Portugal in their Nations League semi final clash. However, it certainly wasn’t the finest performance of the young man’s career. He could’ve done a lot better, to be fair, as he put in an insipid, uninspired display. The entire Three Lions midfield was pretty below-par, as manager Gareth Southgate tinkered with his line up in the wake of plentiful English involvement in last weekend’s Champions League final. Rice was one of those who benefitted, likely starting ahead of Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson. The Hammers star failed to truly grab his chance, though, and the international supporters clearly weren’t very impressed by him. The 20-year-old simply couldn’t get to grips with the game as Holland grew into the match as proceedings wore on. Rice, unfortunately, was one of those who failed to stem the orange tide in Guimarães.
