Ceballos still a target

Real Madrid ace Dani Ceballos is still a target for West Ham, according to reliable source ExWHUemployee.

The Spanish midfielder was linked with a move to the Hammers earlier in the year, as reported by the Express, but talk has quietened of a potential swoop.

But posting on Twitter, ExWHUemployee claimed that the Irons are still interested in signing the 22-year-old Champions League winner.

OPINION

Ceballos would be some signing if the Hammers could pull it off. The 22-year-old is a lively and creative talent, and his unique brand of midfield sorcery would light up just about any side in the Premier League. Whether West Ham actually need him is a different question, however. Having just signed Pablo Fornals, and with Manuel Lanzini, Felipe Anderson, and Andriy Yarmolenko all in the picture, you could definitely argue that Ceballos would be a luxury signing rather than a necessity. That shouldn’t stop the Hammers from making a move if they are genuinely interested, but the chances are that the Spaniard wouldn’t come cheap, and if funds are relatively limited, Manuel Pellegrini may well see fit to allocate his spending elsewhere. If the Irons do swoop, however, they will be getting a real talent. Real Madrid have a player on their hands, and they would surely be mad to let him go.
