European heavyweights Bayern Munich are ready to make a move for West Ham United transfer target Ozan Kabak, according to German journalist Christian Falk.

The Bild writer revealed the news on his personal Twitter account on Monday, stating that Bayern are discussing a swoop for the £13million-rated Turkey starlet.

Turkish outlet Hurriyet reported recently that Manuel Pellegrini’s side had made an official approach for the 19-year-old Stuttgart centre back.

However, their chances of signing the player have surely decreased majorly with Bayern now in the hunt.

OPINION

If West Ham are seriously interested in signing Kabak then their chances of doing so are surely near to zero now. That’s no disrespect to the Hammers, but the fact is that Bayern are an entirely different kettle of fish when it comes to prestige, pulling power and the quality of football they can offer. The fact that Kabak is already based in Germany and has excelled in the Bundesliga also points to him remaining over there. West Ham are a fairly big club and they can offer big wages and Premier League football. But Bayern are the German champions, Champions League regulars and one of the biggest teams in world football. It’s no contest, there’s no doubt about that. The Hammers do need another centre back this summer after muddling through with two or three this season, and Kabak looked as good a choice as anyone. However, with Bayern in the hunt there’s surely now little chance the teenager ends up at the London Stadium.
