West Ham sign highly-rated teenager Krisztian Hegyi

|

West Ham have confirmed the signing of “highly-rated” goalkeeper Krisztian Hegyi, after an official club announcement.

The club made an official announcement on Friday confirming the signing of the Hungarian 16-year old with them stating that he is regarded as one of the brightest goalkeeping prospects in Europe.

Football.London journalist Sam Inkersole also claimed via his personal Twitter account that the Hammers had won the race for Hegyi by beating the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona and Inter Milan.

It was also mentioned that Hammers goalkeeping coach Xavi Valero is “absolutely buzzing” with the transfer.

OPINION

This may be seen as a bit of a strange transfer for the Hammers fans to understand, and only time will tell if it was good signing in years to come, as Hegyi of course is still very young and under-developed. The 16-year old had previously played for West Ham’s U18’s whilst on trial with the club, and appeared in a 3-1 loss to Brighton, but the teenager has now permanently been brought over to London from Budapest. Also, it seems like a green light with senior figure Valero expressing his delight on the signing, especially as he clearly has more of an idea than fans on the potential of the player. There is no doubt that Manuel Pellegrini also shares the same views on the player after his official announcement as a West Ham player on Friday. Hegyi will now no doubt continue to develop throughout his time with West Ham’s illustrious youth system, and is now officially a Hammers player. This should be an exciting one for the West Ham faithful, and although there isn’t too much information regarding the 16-year old, the fact that people are raving about him already should be enough to go by.
