Jack Wilshere has taken to social media to send a message to West Ham fans after his injury-stricken season was concluded on Sunday against Watford.

The 27-year old midfielder made a substitute appearance on the final day of the Premier League season, as West Ham defeated Watford 4-1 away from home, the Hammers’ biggest win of the season.

After what started as a nightmare season for Wilshere, he had a few words to say to the Hammers fans following the club’s emphatic win on the final day – while he was also left raving over Mark Noble’s performances all season.

“Frustrating season for me but I am hungrier than ever for next season.” said Wilshere from his personal Twitter account.

“Big summer ahead for me to be ready for pre season. See you in July Hammers. Shout out to the skipper, not just for yesterday but for the whole season! Like a fine wine.”

OPINION

Wilshere has been the heart of conversation amongst Hammers fans in recent weeks, making his long-awaited return back to Manuel Pellegrini’s match-day squad after recovering from an injury which has seen his start to his West Ham career struggle to take off. The 27-year old will have to do everything in his power to stay fit for next season, or you’d feel that his future with the club could be in jeopardy, especially considering he’s only been involved in eight Premier League fixtures this season. There is no doubting Wilshere’s ability, but his fitness will no doubt be tested over the Hammers’ pre-season campaign, and considering his history with career-halting injuries, he will have to completely avoid further injuries in the lead up to the new season if he wants to be in with a chance for some first team action next year. Pellegrini will have a huge task on his hands to bring Wilshere back to full-fitness of course, but if he manages it then Hammers’ fans will be laughing, as he can be the best player at the club on his day for sure.
