Jim White has heaped praise on West Ham’s fanbase, suggesting that it is the most passionate he has ever seen.
The talkSPORT host made the claim during his show on Tuesday (May 7th, 1pm), and went on to suggest that he wants to see the Irons lift a European trophy as a reward for their support.
He said: “In terms of passion, I cannot imagine having seen more passionate fans than West Ham fans.
“They’d die for that club, they love that club. Honest to god man.
“I would like to see West Ham win a European trophy for those supporters. West Ham need to write the right headlines now.”
This is a massive, massive claim from White, but he clearly has his reasons. The Hammers are fortunate to have one of the most ardent fanbases in the country who have stuck by them through thick and thin. They might not have always expressed that adoration in the most genial of terms, but you cannot dispute how much the club means to every single one of them, and for all of the bad times, you would hope that the good times are just around the corner. With Manuel Pellegrini at the helm, and with a stadium to rival some of the best in the country, this is a team with the potential to really kick on over the next few years. The supporters will be a key part of that, and after the unseemly scenes we saw just 12 short months ago, they will believe that their unrest was a central aspect in kick-starting the revolution that is slowly beginning to take hold in East London.
