West Ham reportedly intersted in signing 25-year-old Turkish midfielder

|

West Ham are interested in making a move to sign Celta Vigo enforcer Okay Yokuslu during the summer transfer window, according to a report from Turkish-Football

The Turkish outlet report that the Turkey international is interesting both West Ham and Tottenham and it is thought that the clubs have been scouting the 25-year-old defensive midfielder over the course of the season.

Yokuslu joined Celta Vigo from Turkish side Trabzonspor last summer and still has four-years left on his current deal, but the Spanish club might be forced to listen to offers to raise some funds after a poor campaign, which has seen Celta just manage to avoid relegation from the Spanish top flight.

OPINION

West Ham could be set for an intriguing summer transfer window as they look to continue to build Manuel Pellegrini’s first season in charge at the London Stadium. One area where it looks like West Ham are likely to be targeting that needs strengthening is their midfield, with the Hammers somewhat light in that area of the pitch at times this season, with both Jack Wilshere and Manuel Lanzini suffering injury problems throughout the campaign. Therefore it could be important for Pellegrini to add more depth in quality to his midfield options, which is something that Yokuslu could provide if the Hammers manage to secure his signature this summer. The Turkish midfielder has a reputation for being a powerful combative presence in the middle of the pitch, but he also has decent technical ability which will have improved further during his time in La Liga. Celta Vigo will be reluctant to lose a talented player they only signed last summer, but if West Ham can provide a reasonable transfer valuation for the player the Spanish side may agree to let him move to the London Stadium this summer.
