West Ham United are interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt centre forward Sebastien Haller, according to the FR.

The German outlet claims that Bundesliga heavyweights Borussia Dortmund have previously been in the mix for the Frenchman, but that the Hammers and Newcastle United are also now in the hunt.

The 6ft 2in frontman [Source: Transfermarkt] is said to have a price tag of between £26.5million and £31million, so it remains to be seen if Manuel Pellegrini’s side want to spend that much.

However, the report notes that Haller has a long-held desire to move to England.

OPINION

Haller is an excellent player who was a key part of Frankfurt’s successful season in the Bundesliga and run to the Europa League semi finals. He is obviously a powerhouse of an attacker, but a mobile one too, who has shown that he can play with others. Luka Jovic has undoubtedly been the star man up front for Adi Hütter’s side this term, but that hasn’t stopped Haller from contributing as well. The 24-year-old bagged 20 goals in 41 games this campaign, while snatching 12 assists as well. Those are very impressive tallies, even more so considering he was playing alongside a lead dog in Jovic. The Hammers will likely have some spots to fill up front this summer, with Andy Carroll on his way out and uncertainty surrounding the futures of Javier Hernandez and Lucas Perez. However, whether they are willing to spend the type of money it would take to sign Haller remains to be seen.
