Southampton are plotting a bid to sign West Ham target Aleksandar Mitrovic from Fulham in the summer, according to the Express.

The outlet report that the Saints are considering a £30million move for the Serbian international, who has been one of Fulham’s best performers in a season which has ended in relegation for the London club, and the striker is thought to be likely to leave Craven Cottage this summer.

West Ham could face further competition for Mitrovic, whose 11 goals this season have made him a sought after striker, with Crystal Palace also thought to be monitoring the Serbian’s situation ahead of the summer.

OPINION

West Ham will be in the market for a new centre forward this summer, with Manuel Pellegrini looking to improve his attacking options ahead of his second season in charge of the Hammers. Mitrovic is reportedly one of the players Pellegrini is looking at this summer, but with Southampton joining Crystal Palace in taking in an interest in the Serbian it will be interesting to see where he ends up next season. The Serbian international has been one of Fulham’s standout players managing to impress despite being part of a struggling side, who were relegated from the Premier League with games to spare after a poor season following their promotion last term. He would be an ideal signing for West Ham, with his physical presence difficult to handle for opponents, but also his technical ability allowing him to bring other players into the game as well. Pellegrini will hope to fend off competition for Mitrovic’s signature and convince that the London Stadium is the best place for him to progress in his career.
