Liverpool considering Felipe Anderson

Premier League giants Liverpool are considering making a summer move for West Ham United midfielder Felipe Anderson, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that the Brazilian is one of the players the Reds are mulling over, after he impressed hugely in his debut season in English football.

The 26-year-old represents a more proven top flight performer than some of Liverpool’s other potential transfer targets, but the Hammers will be looking to hold onto him this summer.

The former Lazio man scored 10 goals from a wide midfield role this season after becoming West Ham’s club record signing a year ago.

OPINION

Well this isn’t very good news for West Ham, is it? However, the Hammers supporters won’t be running for the hills just yet. Jurgen Klopp’s team, by all accounts, won’t be spending big money this summer after majorly splashing out last year, and Anderson would undoubtedly cost big money. BBC Sport reported that the playmaker cost West Ham £36million when he signed, and his value will only have gone up over the past season. He was one of the Hammers’ best players this campaign – although he was still too inconsistent for some people’s liking – and so the club would undoubtedly demand a huge fee for them to sanction his sale this summer. He may well be a player who is interesting Liverpool, but there’s surely very little chance that the Brazilian makes the move to Anfield any time soon. Hopefully he’s merely a player the Reds admire but don’t really make a move for – that would suit West Ham perfectly.
