Hopes are high that West Ham United playmaker Manuel Lanzini will be fit to face Southampton on Saturday, according to Claret & Hugh.

The outlet claims that the Argentine international is making good progress after suffering a groin problem which has kept him out of the team’s last two games.

The 26-year-old returned from a cruciate ligament rupture against Fulham in February and will be hopeful of getting back to full fitness before the end of the campaign.

OPINION

This is a huge boost to manager Manuel Pellegrini ahead of the Saints clash. Lanzini has been much missed while he’s been out for the past couple of games, despite two decent results for the Hammers. The Argentine hasn’t quite looked back to his best after his serious injury, there’s no doubt about that, but he is still the main source of creativity in this West Ham side. Plus, with nothing really to play for down the stretch this season, Pellegrini might as well give Lanzini the game time he needs to get back up to speed ahead of next season. It’sĀ important that he gets as much football as possible before going away for a summer break, otherwise he might still be rusty throughout pre season. So these last two Premier League games represent a chance for Pellegrini to get one of his best players back up to match speed.
