Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden would be open to a move to West Ham this summer, according to reliable source Claret & Hugh, and it could prove to be a wonderful piece of business if it comes off.

The Toon ace has made no secret of his desire to leave the club to be nearer his family, and is understood to be keen on a move to a London-based side.

According to the report, that could open the door for the Hammers to bring him in during the transfer window, with his outstanding form in the second half of the season catching the eye.

Hayden has really managed to turn things around at Newcastle in the second half of this season.

After being somewhat ostracised under Rafa Benitez, he came into the team during a time of crisis and has quickly established himself as one of the most important members of the Toon Army’s side.

In an ideal world, Benitez would be tying him down to a long term deal as a reward for his performances since the turn of the year, but you can’t blame the lad for wanting to be with his fiancée and young daughter, and his professionalism and honesty is an example that a few of his peers could learn from.

In a footballing sense, however, Newcastle’s loss could be West Ham’s gain.

There will be a number of teams looking at the 24-year-old, but the Hammers could be a perfect fit for him.

They in an ideal location, and with Mark Noble getting on a little, Hayden could a fantastic long term option to partner Declan Rice in the centre of the park.

This could be mutually beneficial to both player and club, what’s not to like?
