West Ham United raked in a huge £119.6million windfall for their eventual finishing position in the Premier League this season, according to Football Insider.
The outlet claims that the team’s 10th place finish, secured by a final day victory over Watford, saw them leapfrog the Hornets and scoop an improved share of the top flight dough.
The Hammers ended three places higher in the table than the previous campaign, resulting in a near-£4million increase in prize money.
The club scooped £79.4million as a basic TV rights fee, £19million for their 16 televised Premier League games and another £21.2million for finishing in the top half.

The TV rights deal has seen the total money clubs can secure each season sky rocket, with this being the latest example of the crazy finances on offer in the Premier League these days. A 10th placed finish has ended up securing West Ham nearly £120million – that’s ludicrous! What a reward for being a bang average team, eh. Still, the club will be happy and, if this money gets put towards stadium improvements or reinvestment in the playing squad, then the supporters will be pleased as well. It is crazy that clubs earn this much for not doing particularly well, but there you go. They’re gladly going to accept whatever they can get and for West Ham they’ve ended up getting a nice little bonus for that final day thumping of Watford. It’s happy days from their point of view, that’s for sure.
