West Ham defender Arthur Masuaku is being watched by a flurry of top European sides, according to The Sun.

The 25-year-old is understood to have caught the attention of scouts from Tottenham, Borussia Dortmund, and Fiorentina after a string of impressive performances for the Hammers in recent weeks.

The report suggests that Mauricio Pochettino could be tempted to make a move for the full-back as uncertainty remains over Danny Rose’s future in north London.

But the Champions League finalists could face competition from Bundesliga giants Dortmund and Serie A mainstays Fiorentina if they are to snatch him away from the London Stadium.

OPINION

Here it is folks, the first truly baffling rumour of the transfer window. It’s been barely a day since the Premier League came to its conclusion, and the rumour mill has already churned out an absolute doozy. No offence to Masuaku, who is a fine player on his day, but it is hard to see him ever lining up for the likes of Spurs or Dortmund. The Congolese international lacks consistency, and for every good game he has in claret and blue, he seems to have a pretty shocking one to balance things out. Going forward, he can be a real threat, but his defensive work is suspect at the best of times, and the European elite would surely steer clear of a player capable of being such a liability. That being said, if the Hammers can move him on for a decent fee and bring in a more reliable replacement, this could prove to be a very profitable switch for the Hammers if, by some miracle, it comes to pass.
