West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice has paid homage to Hammers captain Mark Noble after his performances in recent weeks.

The 32-year-old has been immense over the past month or so and highlighted his improvement with a final day brace in the 4-1 win over Watford on Sunday.

Rice clearly felt it was important to draw attention to the skipper after the Hornets clash: “Wait… how good has Mark Noble been recently?,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

“Unbelievable. Pleasure playing with him,” he finished.

OPINION

It’s hard to disagree with anything Rice says, here. Noble has been absolutely superb over the past month or so, proving his many critics wrong and becoming genuinely undroppable for manager Manuel Pellegrini. For someone like Rice, a young central midfielder learning his trade, it must be phenomenal to play and train alongside someone like Noble. For all his limitations, of which there are many, it’s some achievement for him to still be vital to this West Ham team all these years after his debut. He’s arguably never looked better, either, with the goals flowing in what’s been an amazing run of form for him of late. There have been people who’ve been ready to write him off at times this season, but he’s proved them all wrong and now looks just as crucial to the Hammers as he’s ever been. Rice clearly recognises that, and there won’t be many West Ham followers who disagree with him.
