The likelihood of West Ham signing Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is no more than five percent, according to reliable source Claret & Hugh.
The £60,000-a-week Serbian [Spotrac] is understood to be one of a number of striking options that the Hammers are looking at this summer, but the chances of him ending up at the London Stadium would appear fairly slim.
In a report on Everton’s apparent interest in signing the forward, the outlet revealed that a club insider had put the Irons’ chances of bringing in Mitrovic at “no more than five percent as it stands currently.”
OPINION
This will come as a bit of a blow the Hammers. Obviously, they have a fair few irons in the fire, and their summer will not be defined by whether or not they can sign him, but you would have to say that he is exactly the kind of player who could do great things at West Ham, and it would be a shame to miss out on him. The big Serbian is a physical force with a shedload of potential, and on paper he looks like just the figure needed to really provide a focal point to this Hammers side. Five percent is low, make no mistake, but it’s also not a complete denial of it happening, and if a couple of things change here and there, if some clubs fall out of the running or if the Hammers themselves reassess their priorities, that could all change very quickly. Plenty of legs in this one yet.
