West Ham first team duo Jordan Hugill and Sam Byram have been pictured back at the club’s training ground after completing their respective loan spells.

Both players spent this campaign in the Championship, with Hugill enduring a fairly indifferent season at hometown club Middlesbrough, notching just seven goals in all competitions.

Byram suffered an injury-ravaged spell at Nottingham Forest for his part, but did impress in the latter stages of the season when fit and available for Martin O’Neill’s side.

Football.London’s Hammers correspondent Sam Inkersole shared pictures of the duo at Rush Green via his personal Twitter account on Friday morning.

OPINION

You have to wonder whether either of these players have a future at West Ham. For varying reasons, neither have particularly impressed during their respective loan spells, and it certainly feels as if both could be shown the door if Manuel Pellegrini enacts the kind of mini-exodus he is expected to this summer. Of the two, Byram probably stands more of a chance of sticking around, with the full-back actually doing okay when called upon for Forest recently. That being said, his injury record will be a serious worry, and it could be that Pellegrini decides to cash in on a player who looks to have found his level in the second tier. As for Hugill, he must be in trouble. Going back his hometown was supposed to rekindle the killer instinct that saw the Hammers make a surprise move to sign him from Preston in the first place. The loan simply hasn’t worked, however, and he must be destined for the chopping block, if anybody will have him.
