Chris Waddle has praised Michail Antonio after the West Ham attacker put his side 1-0 in-front against Tottenham.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live after the goal, Waddle said: “You don’t know what you’re going to get from Antonio, Sanchez is ball watching. Antonio has a lot of space and shoots across goal, great volley!”
Not long left – #WHUFC still lead thanks to Antonio's goal.
Only one thing for it for Spurs… Vincent Janssen is on
Antonio became the first opposition player to score at Tottenham’s new stadium and gave his side a great three points.
The goal came after a delightful ball from Marko Arnautovic over the top and was met with a fierce strike across goal by Antonio.
OPINION
The goal from Michail Antonio was a great strike that was matched by an even better assist from Arnautovic. The flight of the pass sat up perfectly for Antonio and he guided a great strike past a helpless Hugo Lloris to give West Ham three points. The finish was one of a striker full of confidence and that was Antonio’s second goal in as many weeks after waiting a couple of months for just one. The goal was deserved for the Hammers, they caused the home side problems all the way through the game on the break and this goal was unsurprisingly on the break through their top two. Antonio had been disappointing up until his goal, wasting a couple of good chances to set up a clear shot on goal and instead opting to shoot himself. There was no doubt on whether Antonio would shoot or not when the ball dropped for him in the 18-yard box and that decision eventually gave West Ham all three points and a deserved win for the Hammers.
