West Ham United striker Lucas Perez would have given Manuel Pellegrini a bit of a headache after his goal in the 2-2 draw with Leicester on Saturday.

However, that should not shadow the fact that he has made next to no contribution all season – in the slightest. The fans should not have their minds clouded by the fact that he managed to secure a point for them.

That is why it makes complete sense for the Hammers to recruit a new face in the attacking department this summer, especially as Andy Carroll is set to leave and the futures of Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez remaining up in the air.

The player that they should go in for is RB Leipzig forward Jean-Kevin Augustin, the 21-year-old they approached the Bundesliga club about on deadline day January according to the Sun.

He would have made a brilliant winter signing for the Hammers, which is why they must go in again after missing out on him. At the age of 21-years-old, the player has netted eight goals this season, providing two assists in the process.

Augustin may not be the most prolific of strikers, but the potential that he has to offer is exciting. The report also stated that the likes of Southampton were also interested in a deadline-day deal for the young ace, which did not end up materialising.

The Irons are in desperate need of a striker who can offer the team fresh ideas and a different approach. Arnautovic only seems to perform when he feels like it, and that simply is not something that Manuel Pellegrini should be willing to put up with much longer.

He needs a player willing to commit his future to the club in the long-term, and at the age of 21, Augustin is someone who can provide that. Pellegrini needs a player who is hungry to play, something which the youngster would also be able to offer.

West Ham would surely strike gold with the capture of the French ace, as he is just the exciting talent that the club need.
