West Ham are in the race to sign Inter Milan attacker Ivan Perisic, according to La Gazetta dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper claim that the Hammers have joined Arsenal and Tottenham in the race for the 30-year-old winger’s service, with Perisic deciding in January that it was time to seek an exit.

Gazetta dello Sport report that Inter Milan are expecting concrete offers for Perisic to arrive especially as none arrived in January.

The 30-year-old has been involved in 14 goals for Inter Milan this season as he has scored six, while assisting eight, in his 38 outings.

OPINION

Signing Perisic would be a good move for the Hammers as he is a quality player. The 30-year-old, who has 78 caps for Croatia, has proven his talents in Serie A and the Bundesliga over the years, so it makes sense for him to try and crack the Premier League. The only question mark you’d have about West Ham signing Perisic is over his age and the fact he has no Premier League experience. However given how he has excelled in other top-flight divisions, you feel these worries are ones that could quickly be dismissed. The Hammers face tough competition winning the race for Perisic as both Arsenal and Tottenham can offer him European football next season. Manuel Pellegrini’s side will no doubt have to sweeten the deal financially in order for the 30-year-old to ignore the lure of playing in the Champions League, or even the Europa League, in order to make the London Stadium his new home.
