COMMENTARY
Many West Ham fans slammed defender Aaron Cresswell for his display during the 2-0 defeat to Chelsea. One of these supporters even went to extreme lengths to show how angry they were over the left-back’s display by sharing they wanted the player’s deal terminated. Cresswell did have an awful time for the majority of the match as he was defensively found out time and time again, but it wasn’t so bad that fans should start packing his bags for him. This is especially the case when you consider that the majority of his teammates also struggled to deal with the attacking threat of Chelsea. Cresswell to his credit never gave up during the game despite constantly being put under pressure, and nearly scored a goal that would have been worthy of a highlight reel. If he had scored in that moment, maybe the Hammers fans below wouldn’t have been so angry over his display. Hopefully for his sake, the left-back is able to up his game in the coming weeks, otherwise maybe manager Manuel Pellegrini will consider sanctioning his exit.
