Ian Abrahams took a dig at West Ham attacker Andy Carroll over the forward’s injury record.

The talkSPORT broadcaster, also known as Moose, knocked the player’s injury prone nature after it was reported by Sky Sports that the 30-year-old’s season was over after having ankle surgery.

Moose claimed that the news of Carroll being out for the season was about as obvious as someone telling you tomorrow is Tuesday.

“The news today that Andy Carroll is out for the season is about as obvious as someone telling you tomorrow is Tuesday,” said Abrahams on talkSPORT (15:52, Monday April 8th).

OPINION

Carroll is an easy target due to his injury record and maybe Abrahams should take into account that his news could effectively mean the forward’s Hammers career is over. This is because, as pointed out by Sky Sports, Carroll’s £90,000-a-week contract (Source: Spotrac) is set to expire in the summer and it seems unlikely after this news that the London club will offer him a new deal. The 30-year-old’s whole time at the Hammers has been constantly riddled with injury problems and it’s a shame that his career at the club looks likely to end on a sad note. Carroll has played 142 times for the club and scored 34 goals in the process. While the forward has been terrible in his outings this season, perhaps due to the fact he was delaying inevitable surgery, it doesn’t mean his latest bad news should see him mocked. Carroll is going to struggle to see offers come his way this summer as loads of potentially interested clubs are going to question whether he is worth making a move for due to his track record.
