West Ham have received a boost in the reported race to sign Aleksandar Mitrovic despite their Premier League rivals Fulham holding onto hope that the 24-year-old is staying at Craven Cottage.

The Sun reported on Friday that Fulham now have hope that the powerful No.9 will not leave them in the summer and will instead opt to help fire them to promotion in the Championship.

The newspaper claim that with the London club being under no pressure to sell Mitrovic, even though they’re doomed to relegation, they’re growing in confidence.

However The Sun newspaper notes that the Hammers, Everton and Tottenham are all chasing his services as well as highlighting that the player has settled well in London.

While Fulham may have hope of keeping Mitrovic, given that the 24-year-old has proven he’s good enough to play in the Premier League by scoring 10 goals this season that is likely misplaced.

The attacker will no doubt be tempted to find a club that gives him top-flight football and the fact he has settled in London hands the Hammers a boost in their desire to sign him, not necessarily improve Fulham’s chances of keeping him.

Mitrovic being happy in London gives the Hammers an edge over Everton and given Manuel Pellegrini’s side can guarantee more playing time for the forward than Tottenham can, it should mean they’re ahead of Spurs in the race.

Also the 24-year-old being settled in London should also help the Hammers beat mega-rich Chinese clubs from acquiring Mitrovic’s signature who will likely offer him insane money to join.

The Express previously reported that the Fulham forward had been offered a deal worth £300,000-a-week to pack his bags and head to China in the summer, with Guangzhou Evergrande leading the hunt for his signature.

Yet based on this latest transfer report on Mitrovic’s future, the Hammers’ chances of getting him have been boosted.
