West Ham United striker Javier Hernandez will no doubt be the main frontman for the team from now on after the failings of his teammates recently.

The likes of Marko Arnautovic and Lucas Perez have been dire in their latest displays for the Hammers against Everton last weekend, and it is no doubt now up to him to turn their fortunes around and get the fans excited about the rest of the season.

However, he will surely be hugely relieved that Claret and Hugh reported that the club had not agreed personal terms with Roma striker Edin Dzeko.

Dzeko joining forces with West Ham would have been disastrous for the likes of Hernandez. The former Manchester City forward would have certainly jumped ahead of him in the pecking order for a starting place, something which he would have sweated profusely about.

Dzeko was a decent striker during his time in the Premier League, and many football fans will not have forgotten his part in City winning the title a few years ago after a remarkable turnaround against QPR.

It would have been a shame if the Serie A attacker had made the summer switch. Hernandez has just found his form again after undergoing a mini-transformation, and he no doubt wants to continue that for the Irons in the next campaign. The arrival of Dzeko would have most certainly hindered his playing time massively.

Well, he can now breathe easy that C&H have poured cold water over any such move happening. The Mexican international can now focus on doing the best that he can for the club in what is left of the current season before hitting the ground running next term.

The 30-year-old is lethal when he is given service in the box, and to have wasted that talent with the signing of a veteran forward would have been a very crucial error indeed.
