West Ham United centre back Fabian Balbuena had a fairly decent game on the whole in his team’s 2-2 draw with Leicester City on Saturday, but there was one moment that will stick in the memory of Hammers fans, and for all the wrong reasons. With Manuel Pellegrini’s side ahead midway through the second half, Leicester left back Ben Chilwell found space to deliver a cross to the near post which was duly converted by a gleeful Jamie Vardy. Unfortunately for Balbuena, he was the man Vardy got ahead of to put the ball into the back of the net. The Paraguayan, a solid performer all game long, was caught napping, as one fan said, and Vardy made him pay for it. That is the difference between a good centre half like Balbuena and a great one. You have to remain focused at all times and the Hammers defender simply wasn’t for Vardy’s goal. It’s a shame for him, because the supporters were clearly not very happy with him at all.
