Shock horror, Declan Rice put in a wonderful performance again for West Ham on Saturday evening.
The midfielder was in typically imperious form in the centre of the park for the Hammers in a spirited display that, on another day, could probably have justified at least a point.
As usual, the England international was everywhere, breaking up play and facilitating those around him with an array of short, sharp passes.
It was, in short, another masterclass from the young mainstay, and on that will have Hammers fans biting their nails.
According to the Independent, Rice is attracting the attention of United, with the Reds interested in bringing him in over the summer as part of an overhaul of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s current squad.
And if there were any doubts about whether Rice is worth pursuing, they have surely been put to bed after a wonderful display on Saturday.
As far as shop windows go, the home ground of a side you have been linked with doesn’t come much more blatant, and while there is no indication from Rice that he wishes to leave, turning it on in the manner that he did in front of his potential suitors can only spell trouble for West Ham.
The boy is special, there’s no questioning that, but the Irons will probably be wishing that he had just toned it down a little bit with the vultures circling in anticipation.
Hopefully, the Hammers can hang on to their start for dear life this summer.
