Michael Owen predicts West Ham v Manchester United

|

Michael Owen reckons that West Ham United will be subjected to their third successive defeat at the hands of Manchester United on Saturday.

The Hammers come off the back of two consecutive losses against Everton a couple of weeks ago and Chelsea on Monday, while United come into this match having lost on Wednesday to Barcelona in the Champions League.

The former Liverpool forward pointed out that the Irons had improved in the second half against the Blues, but does not think this will have any bearing on the result this weekend.

“West Ham improved in the second half at Stamford Bridge on Monday, but they were well beaten by Chelsea and I expect United to keep all three points as they look to continue their push for a Champions League berth,” he said in his Bet Victor blog.

“The Irons have lost six of their last seven away league games and have lost all four away games played so far this season against “big six” sides by an aggregate of 1-10.”

OPINION

West Ham are not in the best of form at the moment, and it is safe to say that they were slightly outplayed by Chelsea on Monday, mainly due to the brilliance of Eden Hazard. They now face another tough task in the shape of United on Saturday, but then again, West Ham can spring surprises. Sometimes it is hard to predict just how they will perform on the day, as they can often spring results out of nowhere. United lost to Barcelona on Wednesday, and they may be low on confidence – especially as the 1-0 win came about as the result of an own goal. The Hammers recorded an impressive win over the Red Devils back in September, a game where they outplayed their opponents on every level. It is hard to see that happening again, but who knows? Both sides have been temperamental this term, so it is difficult to see which way this one will go.
