It would be fair to say that Samir Nasri has not had the impact that most of the West Ham fans would have wanted following his January move to the London Stadium.

Arriving at the Hammers for his first taste of action since his doping ban, the French international, who has 41 caps for his country, has gone on to make six appearances, with two assists all to show for his efforts.

Injury has already plagued his time in east London and with a short term contract that ends this summer, there have got to be doubts over whether it is worth giving him an extended deal.

Yes, he might have the Premier League pedigree but there was a reason he left Manchester City and with a notable amount of time out of the game, it seems as though his touch of magic has abandoned him.

With a lack of attacking midfielders in the Hammers’ squad, Nasri’s exit would leave something of a void – but a raid from Germany should see the French star’s time at the club come to an end this summer.

Turkish publication Takvim claim that the club are chasing the services of former Manchester United maestro Shinji Kagawa, who Bundesliga giants have reportedly put up for sale at £10.6million.

Currently on loan at Besiktas after falling out of favour in Germany, his capture would be the perfect tonic to get rid of Nasri, with similar qualities but less doubts.

Yes, he might not have shined at Old Trafford but that cannot take away from the fact he has scored three goals in six games in Turkey, while his 97 caps for Japan have to count for something.

Kagawa surely has unfinished business in England and with Nasri struggling to fire an all cylinders, the Japanese star should end his counterpart’s career at the Irons this summer.
