Gold confirms returning trio

After last weekend’s drab defeat at the hands of Everton, it’s fair to say that West Ham could really do with an injection of fresh impetus ahead of their clash with Chelsea on Monday night.

The Hammers looked bereft of ideas and very sluggish against the Toffees, so fans will be bouncing after co-chairman David Gold tweeted about a flurry of returning faces for their meeting with the Blues.

Taking to Twitter on Saturday afternoon, Gold reiterated that Felipe Anderson, Samir Nasri, and Ryan Fredericks were all available for selection, just like Manuel Pellegrini stated on Friday, after returning to first team training.

This will be a huge boost for the Irons, who sorely missed them last week.

In the absence of Marko Arnautovic, Anderson has been a vital player for West Ham this season, and arguably their key creative force. Without him in the side, there was no real spark, and it highlighted just how crucial the Brazilian has become to Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

As for Nasri, the Frenchman has been wholly impressive since signing in January, and his cunning and vision in the centre of the park always seems to add another dimension and some much needed quality to to proceedings.

Perhaps the most impactful comeback, however, could be from Ryan Fredericks. Pablo Zabaleta is not the player he once was, and against Everton he was caught out more than once.

Against the potential threat of Eden Hazard or Callum Hudson-Odoi, more pace and physicality is an absolute must, and while he may not be able to contain them forever, having Fredericks is much more preferable to having the Argentine in the starting 11.

With this mind upon seeing Gold tweeting this helpful reminder about the trio, many Hammers fans will surely be eager to see all three players unleashed against Chelsea.
