West Ham United defender Aaron Cresswell missed the 2-1 loss to Manchester United due to an injury, according to Football London.

The reputable football news site reports that Cresswell, 29, was missing from the fixture due to picking up a small injury problem, and not because of team selection reasons.

He was replaced by Arthur Masuaku in the loss to the Red Devils on Saturday after being part of the starting XI that lost to Chelsea on Monday.

OPINION

Many West Ham fans were no doubt seething that Masuaku had come in to replace Cresswell at the last minute. He is not one of their favourites anyway, and to have him playing against one of the Premier League top-six in the shape of United would not have gone down too well with them in the slightest. However, Masuaku certainly surprised many with what was an assured performance on his part. Despite having a good game though, it is likely that Cresswell will come back into the team if he only suffered a minor injury problem. Cresswell has been decent in the last few games for the Hammers, so it would not have been a surprise if the fans were gutted about his absence. Fingers crossed that he recovers in time for their clash against Leicester City next Saturday, as it would be a shame to see him miss the last few games of the season.
